If you are looking to change the size, shape or height of your bust, you may be curious as to what makes a person a good candidate for breast augmentation. While each patient is carefully evaluated on a case-by-case basis, there are some attributes that are shared by all good prospective breast augmentation candidates.
You Are Unhappy with Your Breasts
Someone is a good candidate for breast augmentation if they aren’t satisfied with the look of their current breasts. One breast may be larger than the other, or both breasts may be too small in the person’s opinion. A good candidate wants the surgery because they are unhappy with their breasts and not because another person is pressuring them.
You Are Generally Healthy
Even with the best surgical skill in the world, your results may be compromised if you aren’t in good general condition before surgery. If you don’t normally consume a balanced and varied diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables, commit to making some changes so your body has the reserves it needs to heal quickly and properly. Commit to a moderate, reasonable exercise program to build your strength, as this will help you withstand the rigors of surgery and heal up well.
If you have any chronic conditions that could compromise your ability to have surgery or successfully heal from one, talk to your family doctor about creating a plan to mitigate the risk of a poor outcome. Dietary changes, exercise and medication changes may be in order. Of course, all of this will be discussed in detail during a consultation at our office.
You Have Realistic Expectations for the Outcome
No matter how skilled our surgeon or how careful you are in recovery, every person’s body is different. While it’s perfectly normal to hope for the best, you’ll need to be realistic and realize your results may not be as perfect as photos in magazines. Having a realistic idea of what the surgery can do will help patients to be happy with their results.
