What can I expect following surgery?

You will be quite sore following surgery and will require pain medication for a period of time. It will help to apply ice packs for 24-48 hours following surgery. You will need to keep your incisions dry for a full 24 hours after surgery.

You may shower after your first follow up visit. Starting a week after surgery, you will be required to massage your breasts for approximately one month multiple times a day, after which you need to continually massage your breast daily for the life of the implants. At your one-week follow up appointment, the doctor/nurse will instruct you on how to perform this massage. Occasionally, bruising will occur as well as some nipple or breast shape change. It typically takes about three months for the breast to settle into its final shape.
